Hi guys,

what do you think is the percentage of people that actually clicks on the button "Play more games" or Logo of the sponsor during a game?

I would say a 10% of all the people that plays a game is going to click, what do you think?

Probably less. I wouldn't even be sure if 1% of them do, unless they see a logo that catches their eye / they haven't seen before.

I do.
specially if the button is more than a "Play More Games" text on a box.

I once saw this good ad when it's "game over" or when you finish the game, the whole screen fills up
with screenshots/icons of the other games you can play in their site.

If I see something I like, I go there and look for it.

It varies wildly by game. 3-5% is pretty safe estimate. However you can do a lot of things to enhance the overal CTR. Some of the games we have worked closely with have achieve up to 20-25% overall CTR! That isn't 25% clicking on 'more games' but 25% finding some way within the game to reach the sponsors site.

@topic: I agree with Adam, 3-5% is the normal number of players that click on "Play more games" buttons and things like that.

@Adam: I'm interested on that, too. If you can show us a good example of a game like that you said, please put the link here. I'm very interested to see how some developers can get a huge CTR.

Warlords is maybe my favorite example of finding a really nice balance. A few of the races are locked to Kongregate but you can still play the full game without them and its not obvious that you are missing anything at first glance. You don't want to push people to hard or some sites will be relucatant to carry the game.

Gemcraft (the first one) is also a great example. It has some bonus content but its not pushed to strongly its mainly about where the buttons are positioned. For example when you lose you get a chance to view the strategy guide that is on ArmorGames.com. And the 'more games' button is available at many 'stopping points'.

Games with level editors and online walkthroughs have huge oppurtunities here.

You can check StarShine 2 for an example on how they use level editors and Splitter for walkthrough strategies.

Every game is different in finding the right approach. When you are going for the performance based sponsorship finding the perfect balance can result in $1000s of additional earnigns. Even $10,000s depending the scale of the games success.

Great, thank you adam :)

Also another good thing to do... i guess, would be taking few icons of games similar to your game from the sponsor site and put them somewhere in the game. So basically the user have the chooise to play them.

EpicWar series have 12% click rate to drive traffic to kong site.

I put more games button in menu, pause, map

put kongai ads at preloader. kong splash at beginning. kong logo at preloader and menu.

Last more games button at interlevel and kong banner too. :)

hope that helps

Very cool, thank you Adam. The strategies you pointed should be the best ones.

I think nobody tried using subliminal messages (that really have effect, not "porn image hiding" or something like that). Does anyone know if this is prohibited? I want to test it and show the results here =)

I would hope for somewhere between 7-15%. If you get less than 5% you obviously didnt brand the game correctly.

From ymy experience, using a sponsors preloader and/or splash screen, more games button in as many places as posible, and their logo in plenty of places, I have averaged 4.3515234% CTR. Its not great, but not to bad.

I was incredibly skeptical about how many people click these kinds of links in-game until I received my first referal payment from Kongregate last month. That shocked me into realising I ought to spend far more time working those buttons neatly into my games than I do :)

I have my own game site and play more games buttons in my games for a while. On most sites click rate was around 10%, but on some sites it was much lower. On Mindjolt it was around 2-3% because in order to replay, you need to restart the whole game due to the API.

@Photon

Its true, im shock too with how well EW2 click referal.

So i decide to use kongai ads at preloader than use mochiads :). they bring good referal, trust me !

and if u go with perfomance deal, make sure u put lots of moregames button and u should have good placement for it, so people will click it . Like i use more epic games at EW2 than use moregames .
